Le Strette
“Le Strette” is a name that identifies a precise place, a winery excavated in tuff, which melts with its territory and enhances it. The small winery “Le Strette” was founded in Novello in 1997, its name comes from the ancient hamlet in which it is located, in which the original narrow lane passes between some very old houses and leads to an enchanting view over the Langa hills that slope towards the valley, crowned by the Alps, with the vineyards in the foreground.
The owners are Mauro and Savio Daniele. After their studies in oenology and an extended experience as oenologists, their dream has come true: their passion for the vineyards, inherited from their father Giulio and their mother Giuliana, led them to the founding of their own winery, Le Strette, which is family-run, with the help of Gino Lagorio and his family. It is a small winery with a great history.
Their production has increased remarkably over the years: from the first 4 thousand bottles in 1997 (Barbera and Dolcetto) to the present yearly production of 23- 25 thousand bottles, obtained from around 6,5 hectares of precious vineyards located in the best wine regions of the villages of Novello (Pasinotti, Bergera,
Pezzole, Pallaretta) and Barolo (Bergeisa). Mauro and Savio adopted a clear business philosophy: to enhance autochthonous vineyards (from the prestigious Nebbiolo to the rarest varieties, such as the Nas-cetta of Novello) to exalt the characteristics of the grapes and the territory. The wine is the final result of this process and the means that express these typical features.
The new winery, finished in 2002, is an example of this compromise between tradition and modernity.
Philosophy
Visiting Le Strette, in the Langhe of Barolo, is a unique emotion, because it allows you to perceive the personality of some of the most important Piedmontese wines, produced and told with competence and human warmth.
The company mission is to produce wines of extraordinary quality and character, which become an authentic and genuine expression of the grapes of the territory. Not surprisingly, another important cornerstone of the company is the enhancement of the Piedmontese vines that characterize the history of Novello: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and the rare and ancient Nascetta.
Biography
It all started back in 1997, from the passion of mother Giuliana and father Giulio.
A passion fueled by love for their territory, for the vineyard and for the wine, passed on to the sons Mauro and Savio Daniele, the owners of Le Strette.
The two brothers oenologists have combined the sentiment with the study, first in Alba and then in Turin.
With the help of their parents, Gino Lagorio and his family, they work with determination and sacrifice to make Le Strette a winery where you can still breathe history and uniqueness.
