Zambon

In 1907 Umberto Classe had energy to spare. From his hands everything was born. His father planted the first vines that still bear fruit today in the historic Le Cervare vineyard. His son, Bruno, built the current winery and enlarged our estate between the municipalities of Roncà and Gambellara. Nella, born in 1920, knew how to give voice to dreams. Together they created our farm. From them, from son to son, it came to Federico, who began his path of experimentation in 2006 and in 2015 gave life to the great volcano project together with his father Roberto and his everlasting grandfather Bruno. The beauty of the present, in the green hills, where a luxurious valley is wedged; a wonderful corner in the extreme east of Verona.
A county where valleys, woods, minerals and archaeological sites meet the vineyards.
The altitudes of the vineyards reach almost 600m in height and the silence of a land untouched by industry reigns to satisfy all the senses, enhanced by a power that has been smoldering for millions of years, to offer us today the supreme goodness of volcanic wine.
In the beginning there was a warm and vital ocean here; and there were three volcanoes, which forged the shapes of our hills: Duello, Calvarina, Crocetta. These three we still recognize today, from their shapes and their land.

Philosophy

The winery values the land from which the grapes are born. The soils are black from millennia of volcanic eruptions. All farming is organic and little sulfur is added.

Biography

Since the end of the 19th century the Zambon family has been certified as winegrowers in the area, after years of in-depth studies Federico in 2012 decided to bottle and label the precious nectar of Durella and Garganega. All under the careful control of his grandfather Bruno, the Founder, and with the help of his father Roberto.

Currently the company continues its research by studying the territory, the vineyards, the agronomic and oenological practices without ever stopping.

Black lands, rich and full of life! The Zambon company has purely volcanic soils, right where there have been great eruptions, now great wines are produced. The structure and body of volcanic wines is difficult to obtain in other types of soils, thanks to the pH of the soil. The two extinct volcanoes Calvarina and Duello continue their action over time, giving elegant but decisive aromas.

Valuable autochthonous: the grapes used by the Zambon company are all owned and some come from over 100-year-old vines, some of which are ungrafted.
