Built in 1780 for M. de Melet, member of the « parlement de Guyenne », by the architect Gabriel, student of Victor Louis (architect of the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux).
A central main building flanked by two parallel and symmetrical wings form a very “French” conception. The “West” wing fully shelters the wine storehouse (vats and barrels), while in the “East” wing are the lodgings and sheds. Sheepfolds, a mill, farm buildings and various accommodations form a homogeneous architectural ensemble. All this allows a great diversity of activities, which makes the charm of this setting near Bordeaux and Libourne.
It is in 1930 that the Glotin family purchased the domaine, and Henriette Glotin ran it for 40 years. She was one of the first woman winemakers and devoted herself passionately to the domaine.
Then Paul extended the estate to restore its original surface, broken up through the centuries. Today, Yves runs Goudichaud in the same spirit of respect for tradition.
The estate covers 120 hectares, composed of vineyards (60 Ha), forests and grasslands. The vineyard can be divided in 3 parts: a central plateau in which soil is composed of clay and limestone, the gravels being situated 1 metre deep; then on each side of this plateau, the gravelly slopes enjoy an optimal exposure. These gravelly soils, proper to the Graves de Vayres, are clayey, deep and generous. Our gravels, coming down from the Massif Central and carried by the Dordogne river, have this double characteristic of being both draining and nutritive thanks to their association with the clay.

Philosophy
Chateau Goudichaud is a family winery recently awarded HVE3. The objective is to produce high quality wine while collaborating with the gorgeous surrounding nature.
The soil displays a great diversity from one side of the estate to the other. This diversity is our wealth. It allows for the vineyards to integrate with the nature surrounding it, supporting the natural cycles inherent in the spirit and charm of Bordeaux.
