Terre Stregate
Terre Stregate was founded in 1988 by Armando Iacobucci, and today is run by daughter Filomena and son Carlo. However, the family is in its 5th generation of winemaking, starting in 1898 with Filippo Iacobucci. It was in these fertile hills of Guardia Sanframondi, the ancient town of Sannio Beneventano, a region threaded with mysticism, art, and historical tradition, that legends tell of the gathering of witches and their rituals. In this congruence of historic reality melded with ancient myths borne of whispers in the hills and under brooding trees, the Iacobuccis settled upon the name "Terre Stregate", or "Bewitched Lands".
The winery, engulfed by the bountiful Samnite hills in Benevento, is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves and nurtured by innovative equipment and practices. Twenty-Five hectares focus on the indigenous, ethereal and cryptic varieties of the region: Falanghina, Greco, Fiano, and Aglianico. The entire estate is organic. Terre Stregate does not use herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers.
Philosophy
"Call me Witch, Call me Earth. Fate is in the Name." Essence crawls out from its primordial source. Terre Stregate's philosophy is founded on the name it was granted. It is light and shadow, pagan divinity.
Our ancestors bought gifts to Isis with knowledge of her intimate affinity with Hecate and Diana. The moon, the underworld, the hunt. Femininity and Magic. This is a look between the power of life and the mystery of what comes after.
Terre Stregate can be characterized by Nietzsche's well-known expression, "one must have chaos in oneself to give birth to a dancing star". This sentiment can even be seen in the logo, a striking effigy of an eye inserted between Sun and Moon. The Sun is light and heat illuminating the green Sannio Hills. The Moon is a nocturnal companion nurturing the sleeping vineyards (and the witches). Finally, the eye is the constant attention to the territory and the history it holds.
