ZeroPuro
Cantina Orsogna was formed as a cooperative of 600 farmers in 1964, who all shared the same goal of conservation and a reverance for organic and biodynamic winemaking. This came in hand with the place - Majella National Park, one of the largest and most diverse parks in all of Italy. The farmers settled on this are to aid in their mission and have not looked back.
ZeroPuro wines were launched several decades later and were meant to evoke the relationship between winemaking, us, and the earth. Production is now fully biodynamic and zero sulphite added (hence ZeroPuro) whilst supplying a world market.
Philosophy
Only Natural Sulphites: These words are synonymous of healthy well ripened grapes, manual harvest and extreme hygiene in the winery. Since there are no added sulphites in the must, yeasts can work in ideal conditions in order to transform it in wine. White wines are preserved young, fresh and with the characteristic aroma, while the reds retain color and body over time.
Spontaneous Fermentation: Several different types of yeast are naturally present in wine to provide complexity and extraordinary quality.
The same level of quality cannot be found in wines obtained through fermentation with selected yeasts. Furthermore, the spontaneous must microflora is also preserved, expressing the intimate connection between wine and territory.
Demeter: Biodynamic grape growers work in harmony with the forces, rhythms and cycles of nature in order to preserve soil fertility and vine vitality. With this method the grower is able to collect higher quality grapes that give birth to authentic wines, real expression of the vineyard, and the territory of origin.
The illustrations on the bottle are also meant to reinforce the perception of sustainability, evoking the basic organic process of life.
Each wine is identified with one element composing chlorophyll photosynthesis: sun, leaves, trunk, soil, roots and water.
The form, in the respect of lawmaking norms, is designed to be attached to the bottle only by one little glue spot, making it easy to remove it and thus properly recycle it.
