The Story
For centuries, the hills around the Castello di Poppiano have been the main site of farming activity by
the Guicciardini, one of the most ancient Florentine families. Castello di Poppiano is an impressive
medieval building erected around the turn of the first millennium and has been the property of the
Guicciardini for almost nine centuries.
Located in Chianti Colli Fiorentini (“Chianti Hills of Florence”), the sunny hills and well-drained, south-sloping, calcareous stony soils lying at 300 to 140 meters elevation on the ridge between the Val di Pesa and the Val Virginio provide fundamental conditions for great quality wines.
