We asked Hunter of Fort Worth Sales what wine he was most excited about right now. Without hesitation: Francois Villard's 2020 'l’Appel des Sereines' Syrah. Hailing from the Ardeche IGP in the Northern Rhone, the name translates in English to "the call of the Sirens". And for good reason— everyone at Serendipity keeps coming back to Villard. Peppery and juicy, this vibrant Syrah is complemented by a smidge of Viognier (circa 7%). A portion of the grapes are fermented whole cluster, and the aging strikes a balance between barrels and foudres. Smoked violets, blueberry, and anise are among the many pretty notes that make up this Siren's song.
